Awarded $55 Million Bradley Active Protection System Contract

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) announced today it was awarded a $55 million contract in March for an initial order of Iron Fist Active Protection Systems for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

In partnership with Elbit Systems, the Iron Fist solution provides 360-degree protection coverage for close range encounters in both open terrain and urban environments. Utilizing dual sensing – a search-and-track radar and infrared sensor – the system offers a unique operational capability with robust and reliable threat detection, accurate trajectory prediction, as well as short reaction time to initiate target-defeat engagement.

The system’s flexibility and scale facilitate rapid integration onto the full spectrum of combat vehicles and opens new possibilities to upgrade legacy platforms with latest generation crew and vehicle protections, where size, weight, and power constraints are a challenge.
