With over 50 years of experience, Lincoln Operations is a world-class developer, designer and manufacturer of advanced composite structures, primarily for the defense and aerospace markets. As part of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Lincoln Operations’ key product areas are aircraft, missile and space structures, including rocket motor cases, pressure vessels, fuselage structures, external fuel tanks, drive shafts and launch tubes. Located in Lincoln, Neb., the operation houses approximately 250,000 square feet of manufacturing, office and lab space.
Products are manufactured using the latest in fibers and resin formulations to develop high strength, low cost filament wound products. Using an intelligent manufacturing approach, Lincoln Operations collaborates closely with the customer during the design phase to choose the best process and most appropriate materials to fit cost and performance goals. Manufacturing capabilities are complemented by a highly capable design group and a modern prototype development lab. Lincoln employees use state-of-the-art computer-aided modeling and structural analysis tools to design and verify the performance of new products.
Key capabilities include filament winding, precision fiber impregnation, resin formulation, design, analysis and developmental testing. Additional manufacturing processes include compression molding, hand lay-up, automated oven and autoclave curing, welding thin aluminum, machining, drilling, assembly, painting, high-pressure cycle and proof testing, radiographic inspection and ultrasonic inspection.
