The solid rocket propulsion industry is one of the pioneer users of composite materials. Today, advances in carbon fiber technology and our high temperature resin offer even greater advantages in performance and cost effectiveness.
GD-OTS works closely with our customers in the design, development and production of rocket motor cases, including the following components: rubber insulators, port fittings, integral attachment skirts and pressure chambers used for strategic, tactical and interceptor missile systems.
Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3)
GD-OTS provides the composite seeker housing, midsection and motor case structure for the PAC-3 missile.
Employed by the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, the PAC-3 is the world’s most effective hit-to-kill air defense missile. Our composite housing provides protection for the actual seeker, while the midsection functions as a conduit for wiring and system integration.
The composite motor case is the primary structural component for the PAC-3 missile. It incorporates high-temperature materials to accommodate the solid-propellant rocket motor.
Since 1963, we have delivered over 36,000 rocket motor cases to every solid propellant rocket motor contractor in the United States.
